Description
The limestone-clad Roman Revival St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis, Missouri. This building was built by Cass Gilbert in 1903 and was originally for the worlds fair Palace of Fine Arts. This was the only masonry structure among the temporary exhibition palaces of wood and plaster in 1904. Gilbert took inspiration from the Baths of Cacalla in Rome.
