Artist's Description
The Bristlecone Pine tree is one of the oldest known living thing on the planet. Dated 4,000 years old or more, all are located in the White Mountains and many are found on the Methuselah Walk. Mere size does not mean age as these trees are slow growing and rarely get larger than 70 feet. Some of the old trees add only and inch or less of rings per century and have the remarkable ability to shut up shop almost everywhere throughout its stem in a very dry year and reawaken to add many new cells in a favorable year. These misshapen, battered dwarf trees have managed to eke out a living in very dry climates and have been around since King Tut was a boy. Here's to The Ancients!
About Jane Linders
My current passion is an alternative photographic process called Polaroid transfers. Each transfer is hand-made by the photographer using specific materials and equipment to achieve a desired effect. A transparency is projected on to professional Polaroid print film and as development begins, the print and chemicals are prematurely separated. Gasp!! If this is HDR, well done. Perfect composition. An awesome being to see. Any idea of age? f/l
Jane Linders replied:
I HDR'd this one. The tree is over 4,000 years old. Looks dead, but it isn't. This tree was around when King Tut was a boy.
